BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman today paid tributes to his father and BNP founder Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman by placing wreath at his grave here.
Accompanied by thousands of party leaders and activists, he also offered prayers (dua) at Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman`s grave at Zia Udyan of Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in the city this afternoon.
Tarique Rahman last offered prayers at Shaheed Zia`s grave on September 1, 2006 after he became senior joint secretary general of BNP.
After paying tributes, he started for the National Martyrs` Memorial in Savar, where he is scheduled to pay homage to the valiant martyrs of the Great War of Liberation.
The BNP acting chairman returned home from London on Thursday after nearly 17 years in exile. On his historical home coming, Tarique Rahman was accorded a huge reception by the people of the country and the party. BNP gave him a warm reception in July 36 Expressway in the city where millions of people were present.
After the reception, Tarique Rahman went to Evercare Hospital to see his ailing mother BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia.
